The table was as tight as anything. The smallest bet almost had the
whole table fold. I held pocket aces twice. One the first occasion, I
put in a big bet - $150. Everyone folded. On the second occasion, I
decided to check. I made a $50 bet once the flop came and again, they
all folded. Question is, how do you play a tight table where its seems
impossible to get any action? The advantage of course is that you know
almost for certain that a player has a hand when he bets. But its
frustrating if no one wants to let you take their money ;)
Then I am still uncertain how to play low pairs. I had 55. I bet $100 and was
called by two players. The flop came 2,3, 7. I raised all in (probably because
nobody bet and I knew how tight they were playing) and was called by KK. The
turn came 5 so I won the hand. Tell me I`m nuts but I don`t feel right about
that play, even though I won it.
I was happy to get through the bubble. The heads up was pretty much a blind
stealing affair. Both of us went all in with just about any hand. I think I was
panicking a little - worried about getting drained by the blinds. He raised all
in again and I decided what the heck, I need to go get some sleep and called
with K6 suited. Not a good move - he held JJ. The flop actually cam K x x. My
excitement was short lived though as he hit the J on the river. Stupid
play again?
