EXPERT VIEW - A good weekend of tournament poker!
|
30 January 2006
I have decided to focus exclusively on online tournaments in 2006, with most of that attention going to Sit and Gos. I will play in multi-table tournaments that offer overlays (guaranteed tournaments), but I believe that it is possible to make an excellent living as a pro playing single-table events.
In order to keep poker fresh I will limit myself to two tournaments a day, regardless of results. I started this weekend playing Sit and Gos at Pokeroom.com. My initial results were very strong: 3rd, then 2nd, then 1st, and finally a disappointing 5th place finish. Still, playing only $100 + $8 events I netted a profit of $568 or $294 per day. Each tournament takes roughly 90 minutes so my hourly rate for the weekend is $98. I am more interested in seeing if I can earn a steady and regular income of $7,000-$10,000 a month.
It is important to set realistic and attainable goals with your online poker. I am not trying to become a millionaire overnight by hitting the lottery here. I want to play at a level where I am confident of consistent success, without burning myself out or becoming one-dimensional as a human being. Poker is not my life but my passion, and I`d really like to keep it that way.
