| In one of Marc`s latest columns he argues that we
should stay away from games that we know we aren`t good at. Maybe I should
start listening to the boss. I guess I keep going back to these because I
love playing poker and my home town has very few opportunities to get out
and play the game without losing your shirt. I came into the game with a
strategy that I was going to be very aggressive early on and try to build a
stack. It worked initially, I dominated the table. Then I got dealt A6 off
and raised from the button. A big raise of about 6 times the blind. One
player called and the rest folded. The flop came A6x. He checked and I
raised twice my initial raise. He came over the top and I raised all in. He
turned over KK. Bingo I though, until the turn came K. I guess that`s the
way the cards fell, but I can`t help thinking I strayed from my normal tight
strategy. If I had stayed with it, or at least if I hadn`t been as
aggressive I would not have been knocked out. I get concerned with these
types of free rolls as they may be interfering with developing a style of
play. |
