| I always knew it was going to be much easier to
blog my good results as opposed to my bad ones. After my promotion to Level
3 I felt on top of the world. I was so confident that i kicked off on Monday
with my first $30 Sit&Go tournament. There is a definite difference to the
$10 and $20 level. I found I was getting re raised more often, betting
players out of a hand was also much harder than I thought. Maybe I just hit
a tough table, or maybe I was a little nervous. I bombed out pretty early
after I got trapped in one of the first hands. I played another two $20
games by Wednesday and fared poorly. Maybe the $30 game dented my confidence
a little. I found that I was making some really dumb plays with
marginal hands. Again, that old habit of convincing myself that someone was
bluffing crept in (when it is all too often not the case).
On Thursday night I played in one of the local free rolls in my area and when you`ve
had a bad run it does not help at all when you do badly with a bunch of
idiots around the table. I got pretty crap cards. Eventually a very
drunk person misdealt me an As face up. The card was burnt, and I got dealt
another, only to discover the other hold card was Ad! Anyway, these games
are supposed to be mainly for fun, but its hard to take getting knocked out
by complete poker morons if you take the game as seriously as I do now. In
retrospect though, I should look at these games as an opportunity to take
weak (or insane) people`s chips.
The weeks was nicely rounded off with my local cash game (a $20 NL game
with rebuys). I started really, really well and doubled up but somehow lost
focus and lost it all. It did make me realize how important it is to gain
live table experience as it is VASTLY different to my cosy study.
I decided to take the weekend off from poker. |
