| What was most encouraging about this game was not
the win, but how well I played through to the break with ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING. My best two hands for the first hour were AK suited and a pair
of sevens. I managed to flop top pair with the AK and win a big pot. I
played position with the 7`s and stole a reasonable pot. After the break I
loosened up on my starting hand requirements and got lucky on the big blind
twice with meaningless hands, e.g. Q4 off with flop coming 7Q4. The
chip leader put in a pot size bet after the flop, I came over the top and he
then put me all in. I figured him for AQ and called and that was what he
showed. This made me realize how important it is to NOT limp in before the
blinds in the kind of games. Why he did not raise before the flop I don`t
know. From this point I was on a roll and knocked out the last five
players at the final table.
These are the times when you just loooooove poker! |
