January 11 - The 2008 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure was a huge success with most of the top online poker pros in attendance, minus the cheaters like JJProdigy (aww, is multi-accounting really such a crime?). The main event offered a bloated first prize in the $2 million vicinity, not bad for a trip to the Islands.
The winner this year was Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, who used to play his trade as a joystick jockey (video-gamer). The European poker pro defeated Hafiz Khan in a rather circumscribed heads-up battle. ElkY raised on the button and Khan pushed all-in with 93. ElkY quickly called with 88 and it was all over. Smells like a deal was made. Why else would you push like that, unless you had another tournament on the backburner offering more than $2 mil as the first prize.
The Europeans did well in general. Kris Kuykendall finished third, just ahead of big name pro David "The Dragon" Pham. Christian "charder" Harder and Richard Fohrenbach also made the final table, finishing seventh and eighth respectively.
In case you`re dying to know who finished 5th and 6th it was Craig Hopkins in fifth spot followed by Joe "bigegypt" Elpayaa in the 6th spot.
