Tom durrrr Dwan Loses $1.2 Million Heads Up Online
|
10 November 2009
November 10 - Online poker audiences (yes there are people out there who just watch other people play online poker) were thrilled by an epic heads up battle between one of the great online players, Tom Dwan known as durrrrr, and an anonymous Swedish fellow called Isildur1. The latter prevailed on a day where the two played nearly 7,000 hands against one another. In fact, Isildur1 became an instant (more or less) millionaire by raking in over $1.2 million of Durrrr`s bankroll.
The two began by playing $300/$600 No limit Hold`em, but that wasn`t big enough so they moved to a $500/$1,000 table and stayed there for most of the day playing over 6,700 hands.
In between they also found some time to play a little $500/$1,000 PLO (that`s Pot Limit Omaha, and not some pro-Palestinian group). Dwan won 5 of the 6 biggest pots in the sesssion but still lost more than a million bucks. There is a lesson in there somewhere.
The good news for Tom is that he is now a member of the elite Full Tilt Poker team, which means he will be bankrolled by the website and earns a share of their profits despite being a US citizen, and despite that not being quite legal last time we checked. Anyhoo, Full Tilt operates in a separate dimension to the Law, so he doesn`t need to worry any. And the $1.2 million? He`ll make that back tonight or tomorrow night, after all he is Durrrr.
