$50k Buy-In For A World Series Of Poker Event!
|
The poker pros have spoken and the World Series Of Poker organizers have listened. There will be a $50,000 buy-in event at this year's WSOP for a mixed-game (HORSE) that the pros consider the ultimate test of poker skill.
When the top players in the world meet at the private room in the Bellagio's card room, known as "Bobbys room" after Bobby Baldwin, they play a huge limit ($2,000 - $4,000) mixed game. It's known as HORSE and features a variety of poker games including hold'em, razz, triple draw lowball, and seven-card stud. Its called HORSE because like shooting baskets from different angles on the basketball court it requires versatility from poker players.
For many years Chip Reese has been considered the best all-round poker player in the world because of his ability to win consistently in mixed games. Will he win the HORSE gold bracelet in 2006? This event is going to be very tough to win, with only top professionals realistically standing a chance, one would think, in its first year. The buy-in of $50,000 should scare off the rank amateurs, but the fact that you need to be very good at all forms of poker should scare off all but the most foolish of part-time players.
