August 30 - Online poker fans are counting down to the start of one of the
industry's greatest tournaments ever - the annual Poker Stars World Championship
of Online Poker (WCOOP).
The WCOOP will kick off next week on September 5th and players are already
excited about the amazing line up of games and events, with buy ins ranging from
$215 to $25,000! With hundreds of thousands of dollars up for grabs in most
events and several $1 million + events thrown in for good measure, this promises
to be one tournament that players are not likely to forget for a long time.
Poker Stars has promised to double the guaranteed prize pool to a staggering
$30 million - double the amount up for grabs at last year's WCOOP event.
This year's tournament begins with a $215 buy in six handed no limit Hold 'em
game. With $1 million up for grabs, this is certainly a great start to an
excellent event.
WCOOP 2008 sees the introduction of several new events, including a $25,500
high roller buy in for a heads up tournament and a high roller no limit hold 'em
event with a $10,500 buy in amount.
All in all 33 events will be held at this year's tournament, 10 more than
last year .
This year's main event all promises to be double the fun and double the
action. While last year's final guaranteed prize was $5 million, this year it
has jumped to $10 million in a $5,200 buy in no limit hold 'em tournament that
will be spread over two days from September 21.
To earn themselves a seat at this prestigious poker event, players can make
their way down to PokerStars and try their luck at one of the many satellite
tournaments being run at this site.
