Absolute Poker Win Your Tuition Winner Announced
|
August 25 - David Wood, a 20-year-old student studying at Purdue University in
Indiana beat out thousands of students from across America to win the Absolute
Poker 'Win Your Tuition' tournament.
Not only did David win a full year's university tuition from the top online
poker room, but he also won himself
a brand new laptop computer which he will be showing off to his Delta Chi Frat
brothers at Purdue.
Wood, who has been playing poker since he was 16, made it to the Absolute Poker
'Win Your Tuition' final table along with five other student finalists.
Wood went up against Jamie Webster from Georgia College
and State University, David Wilke from Southeast Missouri State University,
Justin Rausch from Penn State University, Kyle Garis from the University of
Delaware and Jim Pappas from Bradley University.
The six finalists fought their way to the final table and were flown to New York
City for the Texas Hold'em showdown earlier this month, which was set up in the VIP room of a
trendy New York
nightclub called Crobar.
After four of the players were dispatched, it came down to Wood and Rausch, with
Rausch finally succumbing to Wood's superior poker experience.
However, for his second place finish, Rausch received a semester of college
tuition from
Absolute Poker while the other four players each received laptops.
