Ayre Raid - Billionaire Owner Of Online Poker Room Raided
|
Calvin Ayre, who recently appeared on the cover of Forbes in article about how he has become a billionaire thanks to running an online poker room, casino, and sportsbook (Bodog.com), was raided by Costa Rican authorities. Fortunately, TV cameras from FOX were conveniently there to capture all the action.
Along with Ruth Parasol who founded Party Gaming after dabbling in online porn, Calvin Ayre has also reached the lofty ranks of the billionaire jet set thanks to online poker and gambling in general. Ayre cultivates his reputation as a playboy, which filters on down to the Bodog.com image as a sexy, cool website for guys to indulge in their Vegas-style habits.
Bodog.com's Online Poker Room Gets Free Publicity Boost
Bodog has earned a reputation for brilliant marketing campaigns, so try this one on for size: Host a "private" poker game in your Costa Rica mansion, and invite FOX cameras and Extra TV to film you and your wealthy friends smoking cigars and discussing poker, mainly Bodog.com Poker. Then, have the Costa Rican officials (surely an oxymoron, as the only reason to live in Costa Rica is the fact that there are no officials - in fact, one might argue that Calvin Ayre owns Costa Rica, or could certainly sink it if he was in the mood) "raid" your game with the cameras rolling.
Nothing illegal was going on. They were filming a new reality show called "calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker", but no poker was being played at the time of the raid, so all the cameras and equipment seized will be handed back to the crews. At that point they can play the salacious content to every American household, subtly pimping online poker at Bodog! Genius, we say.
