Buffet Bombs at Charity Poker Tourney
|
December 11 -
He may be the second richest man in the world, but billionaire Warren
Buffet is no Doyle Brunson at the poker table, as the founder and CEO of
Berkshire Hathaway proved after he quickly got knocked out of a charity poker tournament
last week.
Proceeds from the charity poker event hosted in the city of Omaha, Nebraska were earmarked for
the Nebraska Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Buffet, who is a well-know bridge fan and player, lasted just 45
minutes playing Texas Hold'em alongside a mix of 50 other poker professionals, amateurs
and celebrities.
The charity poker event offered up as a first prize a $3500 watch featured in
Casino Royale, the latest James Bond movie, and served also to celebrate a $5 million
dollar 'facelift' of Borsheims jewelry store owned by Berkshire
Hathaway.
Just some of the celebrities and poker players at the event included poker pros
Michael Mizrachi, Evelyn Ng and David Williams, as well as US Olympic swimmer
Michael Phelps.
In the end, the event was won by an Omaha-based amateur poker player.
