Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker Series Won By Arieh
|
Josh Arieh, who plays his online poker at Bodog.com Poker, was the $500,000 winner of the Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker tournament, which airs on Fox Sports Net. Ayre, the billionaire founder of We recommend visiting Bodog, brought together forty players at the Bodog compound in Costa Rica.
It was an eclectic mix to say the least: Top poker pros, many of whom are endorsers of Bodog were there - David Williams, Arieh, Evelyn Ng as well as Michael Mizrachi, Erick Lindgren and a surprise "wild-card" appearance at the final table by "Kid Poker" Daniel Negreanu.
But also there were celebrities such as Cheryl Hines from Curb Your Enthusiasm and Rob Mariano from Survivor. Finally, some of Bodog.com's best online poker players were also invited to participate.
The early rounds saw some huge upsets. Hines managed to beat Erick Lindgren, the former World Poker Tour player of the year, as well as Humberto Brenes on the way to the final table.
Josh Arieh eventually won that final table match, seeing off Negreanu, David Williams and of course Hines.
We recommend visiting Bodog.com's online poker room had a few teething problems earlier this year, and their customer service could use a bit of an upgrade as well, but they remain one of the better options for online poker thanks to slick graphics and fairly week players in general.
