May 12 - Shares in Cryptologic increased on the London Stock Exchange
this week, following an announcement that the software company has entered into
a three year exclusive agreement with OPoker, to provide this new poker site
with software and services.
OPoker, which will aim mainly to serve the fast-growing online poker market
in Scandinavian countries and which was established by some of Scandinavia's
leading online poker executives, will use the services of Cryptologic's online
gambling arm, Waterlogic. The new deal will see Waterlogic provide the site with
customer support services, business service support and e-cash management. The
company will also be the sole provider of poker software to the site.
The President and CEO of Cryptologic, Brian Hadfield said: "Today's
announcement is consistent with our strategic imperative of adding liquidity and
strengthening the Cryptologic poker network within Europe, including
Scandinavia. Cryptologic's partnership with OPoker.com shows that even while we
grow into other parts of the world, we're also expanding in our core European
market."
In response, the CEO of OPoker, Daniel Andersson said: "Cryptologic shares
our vision of providing players with top quality poker software, tailored to
local interests and cultures. Together we will make OPoker.com a destination of
choice for players across Scandinavia and beyond."
Cryptologic's vice president, Justin Thouin said that combining OPoker's
industry knowledge and Cryptologic's technical solutions was a 'natural fit'.
The new deal will provide OPoker players with access to some of the most
popular poker events around the globe, including the Caribbean Poker Classic and
the Head Hunter Challenge.
