Drunk Stabs Teen, Runs Over Waiter, Online Poker Is Blamed
|
A drunkard who stabbed a teen four times at an Indian restuarant and then ran over the waiter who tried to stop him has a novel excuse for his crime spree: he lost a fortune playing online poker, and was so angry about it that he couldn't help his rage.
John Trivett, a forty-year old man, lost $100,000 playing online poker. We'd like to know his username that's for sure. Anyway, according to his lawyer these losses rendered him a "walking volcano", which we estimate to be somewhere between a walking tsunami and the more popular walking time-bomb.
He went to the local Indian restaurant to pick up some takeaway and was drunk at the time. Our guess is he didn't want to sit down and eat because it would keep him from getting back to his online poker game.
He started a conversation with a teenage boy and his friends, and the kid asked him to leave them alone. Trivett then threatened the lad with a head-butt and stormed off. He came back thirty minutes later with a knife and proceeded to stab the boy four times in the head and body.
When the boy tried to escape the online poker addict, crazed by images of suck-outs on the river, gave chase. At this point a brave Indian waiter tried to intervene and tossed a tray through the online poker player's windshied. For his troubles the waiter was then run over.
The waiter was not seriously hurt, and presumably the boy is alive as well (the report from the UK didn't mention that he was dead, so we're assuming that part).
Canada was unavailable so the blame has fallen on online poker. Not on the fact that this pathetic individual was both violent and drunk. It looks like a rock-solid defense to us.
No word on whether the gentleman had ordered the fish curry from the Indian restaurant. Har har.
