Flood Washes Away Competition at European Open
|
January 17 - Liam Flood, a 64-year old retired bookie from County
Kildare, Ireland, recently 'washed away' 72 of the best poker players in Europe to
snatch the 3rd PartyPoker.com European Open poker title and $125 000 first
prize.
Drawing on his more than 25 years of poker skills and experience, Flood dispatched
top-rated poker players including last year's PartyPoker.com European Open winner, Ian
Frazer, Nick Persaud, Roland De Wolfe, Scott Fenton, John Magill, Pippa Flanders
and Darren Hickman.
Known in poker circles as 'The Gentleman' for his immaculate suits and ties,
Flood worked his magic at the
PartyPoker.com European Open final table until he
had eliminated everyone except for Darren Hickman.
Facing down the ruddy-faced Irishman in the heads-up, Hickman too was shortly dispatched when
Flood doubled up in one hand and took the title and prize money in the next with
an A-Q against Hickman's paltry 7-9.
The PartyPoker.com European Open will be broadcast in the United Kingdom
on Channel Five on January 31st 2007.

PartyPoker.com and take advantage of its upcoming poker tournaments and
