December 28 - Isildur1, the mysterious Swedish high stakes player who refuses
to make his identity known to the online poker community, is mulling a formal
complaint at Full Tilt Poker over data mining.
Players such as Brian Hastings, Brian Townsend and Cole South have made it
their mission to beat the player who has won many millions off some of the best
poker pros in the industry.
In a recent session of Pot Limit Omaha, Hastings caused quite a stir at Full
Tilt Poker after intense heads up competition against Isildur1, finally walking
away with $4.2 million.
It seemed that Hastings had cracked the Swede's code, and he later confirmed
this by stating in an interview: "Honestly, I give most of the credit to Brian
Townsend here. He analyzed a database of heads up hands that Isildur1 had played
and constructed ranges of what Isildur1 was doing in certain spots."
That bit of information is what caused Isildur1 to consider placing a
complaint to Full Tilt Poker that Townsend, Cole and Hastings went against the
site's official terms and conditions which state: "The use of shared hand
histories provides detailed information on opponents a player has little or no
personal experience playing against, and is deemed to be an unfair advantage.
Violating this policing is subject to the maximum penalties for prohibited
software use."
Isildur1 said in a later interview that he was not initially aware of the
exact rule, "but since seeing that is in fact a rule at Full Tilt Poker, I think
I am going to put in a formal complaint as I think this is a case where the
sharing of hand histories directly affected the match I played with Brian
Hastings."
Isildur1 said that Townsend and Cole were always waiting to play him. "The
last session where Hastings won all the money, it just felt like something was
wrong," he said. "Everything that could go wrong for me did. Every time I tried
to pull off a bluff of some kind, it felt as if it was being picked off."
