July 14 - It was announced this week that Ladbrokes Poker,
one of the more popular poker rooms on the internet, has signed on a new player
to join Team Ladbrokes.
The online poker room said that the latest sponsored player added to its team
is Jonas Danielsson, one of the top poker pros in the industry, who also
operates under the name Nebuchad.
Danielsson has a very impressive poker track record, including cashing in
three events of the World Series of Poker event this year. The Swedish
high-stakes player is equally comfortable online, however, and has won over $3
million playing in internet games and tournaments. He was recently voted the
best online player at the Scandinavian Poker Awards held in Copenhagen this
year.
Speaking about the new sponsorship deal, the marketing director for Ladbrokes
Poker, Edward Ihre said: "It goes without saying that we wanted him in our
stable of sponsored players. Jonas started his career by playing our free
tournaments and has developed into one of the most formidable online players."
Danielsson is also reported to be extremely pleased with the sponsorship
deal. "It's a really satisfying feeling to become a part of Team Ladbrokes," he
said. "It is where I have played poker all my 'poker life'. The competitive
poker that is offered at Ladbrokes has developed my game into what it is today."
Danielsson has always been a keen poker player. Born in Stromstad, Sweden, he
moved to Uppsala to study technical physics, but soon gave up that dream to
become a professional poker player when he realized his great talent.
Danielsson put his talents to the test when he entered the high stakes
Legends Reunion at Ladbrokes in November last year, winning more than $150,000.
Ladbrokes Poker is the top UK online poker site.
