October 21 - The mainstream video game provider, SEGA, is indicating
its intention to launch a brand new poker product, after it registered a domain
for segapoker.com.
The group has already been provided with a gambling license by the tough
jurisdiction, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
Many are commenting that if this giant games provider makes a move into an
already competitive market, its cash resources and reputation may shake up the
current industry.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission granted the gambling license to SEGA
after a lengthy process that judged the group's standards in many sectors.
Other poker groups that already carry an Alderney license are
Party Poker and PKR Poker.
"The Alderney Gambling Control Commission provides the most comprehensive
gaming regulations with the strictest requirements and such is recognized as the
most reputable online gaming jurisdiction," said a spokesperson for SEGA Games.
"This provides an excellent fit for SEGA's regulatory compliant strategy and we
are pleased to be approved by this leading authority."
The Head of eCommerce Development for the Alderney Gambling Control
Commission, Robin Le Prevost, said: "That SEGA Games chose to base their new
venture with us in Alderney is something we are immensely proud about. In our
minds it vindicates the high quality of our regulation, which is recognized the
world over and has seen substantial investment from companies of high standing
like SEGA over the last few years."
The new sites will play off the Playtech software platform and will
incorporate SEGA's existing SEGAPass product.
