Online Poker Petition Signed by 330,000
|
July 17 - Poker players hoping to influence the US Congress in any way possible in order to get the game legalized are invited to sign the petition put out by the Poker Players Alliance.
The poker petition has already attracted over 300,000 signatures, with only a few days left before it is presented to President Barack Obama.
The petition was launched as part of the National Poker Week activities, another brainchild of the PPA.
National Poker Week will begin on July 19th and run until July 25th.
The text of the petition reads: "I am a voter and a fellow poker player asking for your support of my right to play games of skill like poker on the internet.
This issue is not lost on the American public. We recently made our desire for this liberty through your Citizen's Briefing Book website. Of the thousands of proposals submitted, a proposal supporting internet poker rights was the number one issue on technology policy.
What's most important to me is your support of my rights. Please 1) exempt poker from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and 2) license and regulate internet poker in the US. 3) Respect the rights of law abiding Americans who love to play this great game of skill."
The petition can still be signed online at www.PokerPetition.com and the more signatures collected before July 22nd - the date of its presentation to the President - the better.
