January 20 - Paddy Power online poker site has issued an invitation to
US President Barack Obama that he may find too hard to refuse.
Obama has been invited by the Irish poker and casino operator to attend the
Irish Open which will take place over Easter weekend at the Burlington Hotel in
Dublin.
Obama has already expressed an interest to trace his Irish roots one day, and
said that he would one day visit the Emerald Isle.
Paddy Power is so keen to get the President to attend the Irish Open that it
has promised to add a cool $1 million to the tournament prize if he agrees.
"With a name like O'Bama there has to be a strong Irish connection so we're
hoping that if the president has business on this side of the Atlantic at the
start of April, he may just stop by and try his luck," said Paddy Power.
The Irish Open will be held from April 2nd to 5th, 2010 and is already
generating major interest in the online and offline poker worlds.
Paddy Power is already holding weekly super satellites at the site, with
daily feeders hugely popular among players seeking a piece of the action.
The weekly super satellites run each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Paddy Power has also enlisted the services of cheerleaders Pippa O'Connor and
Sara Kavanagh to promote the Irish Open.
