December 29 - Poker Stars has proven once again why it is considered
the best online poker room in the world.
The site managed to break its own record on Sunday by attracting a staggering
149,196 players to the biggest online tournament of all times.
The tournament had a $1 buy in fee in order to draw as many players as
possible.
In addition, Poker Stars left the field uncapped.
The $1 + $0.50 event ran for just under six hours as a result of five minute
blind levels.
The final results saw oskar69 take home $50,000, bommel222 - $30K and TLWPB -
$20K.
All in all, Poker Stars gave away $300,000 in guaranteed prize money, meaning
that the site forked out half the prize pool,
The minimum payout was $2.22, while the maximum, as stated, was $50K.
Poker Stars held the previous record that was sent in July 2009 with 65,000
players.
The site deliberately held the July tournament several hours after one held
by its rival Full Tilt Poker where the latter beat a previous record of 35,000
players.
Both Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars capped the field in the July event - a
move that was criticized after the record was set.
Poker Stars boasts a full licensed website with award winning 24/7 customer
support, a superb collection of software and games and fast cashouts.
