Police Raid Home of 2006 WSOP Finalist
|
September 1 - On Wednesday this week, the San Antonio Vice Squad raided the home
of 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) finalist, Richard Lee in connection with an
illegal gambling operation.
With search warrant in hand, police seized evidence including cash, computer
equipment, expensive cars and betting slips from Lee's property, in what they
described as the next step in an investigation into a possible illegal
gambling operation.
However, Lee was not arrested or even named as a suspect during the early morning
raid. Earlier in August, Lee won $2.8 million when he finished in 6th place at
the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Upon his return home from the WSOP, he became somewhat of a 'local hero' in the
San Antonio community. After the raid on his home, while maintaining his
innocence, Lee told the media that he felt like he had gone from a 'hero
to a zero' thanks to the raid.
The evidence seized by police has been inventoried and turned over to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office
as evidence.
