Thirty Microgaming Poker Skins Liquidated in Past Year

August 26 - Microgaming is known to be one of the leading online casino and poker software providers in the industry. Being a pioneer in new games, reliable networks and the number of casinos it powers, there is not much that can tint the Microgaming name...or is there? Over the past year over 30 Microgaming poker skins have had to liquidate for various reasons and this is putting strain on Microgaming's previously stellar reputation.

The year started with the American state of Kentucky singling out Microgaming as the main provider of casino and poker software to more than 140 casinos in that state. That attempt to seize control of the casinos' domains failed, due to an appeal by the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association but already put pressure on Microgaming.

The next event was the fact that Grand Prive, a licensee of Microgaming, decided to end relationships with all of its "life time affiliate partners". One would have expected some sort of reaction from Microgaming regarding this drastic move by Grand Prive, but as of yet, no official statement has been given.

An event this week has again put Microgaming's reputation on the line when its licensees - Eurolinx and BetonBet Poker were dissolved. This move means that over thirty of Microgaming's skins have been dissolved in less than a year.

Dan Stewart from PokerScout.com said: "Microgaming has seen its market share decline, but then again so have a lot of sites, which have been losing share to PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. The Microgaming Network still has a healthy amount of traffic and we don't know how much business the individual licensees are doing."
