September 24 - Yevgeniy "Jovial Gent" Timoshenko proved that he is not
simply a kid that got lucky.
The 21 year old player, who burst onto the poker scene with his World Pour
Tour Championship win last April, took home over $1.7 million in prize money on
Monday, after winning the
Poker Stars World Championship of Online Poker main
event.
The Ukrainian born, US bred Timoshenko is fast becoming of one the
poker world's most talented players, having earned himself over $3 million in a
very short career so far.
2144 players put their skills to the test in a two day WCOOP extravaganza
that came with a buy in fee of $5,200.
The tournament continued at a steady pace until the top players met at the
final table, which included Daniel Kelly with the chip lead.
There was tough competition for Timoshenko, especially from Kelly who already
had two WCOOP events under his belt this year alone.
Nevertheless, Kelly left the tournament with a fourth place win, earning
himself the title of Player of the Series and $643K for his efforts.
Timoshenko eventually met Udon Wannit head to head at the final table,
tearing down his opponent and walking away with the $1,715,200 prize money.
