All that is about to change as Steve Lipscomb, Chief Executive Officer for the World Poker Tour announced that the Main Event for the tour will be held in Venice, Italy between May 6th and 10th.
In addition, online poker players are expected to see a familiar brand through the World Poker Tour's partnering with the popular European gambling group, bwin, for the duration of the tour.
Steve Lipscomb was thrilled about the new location for the Main Event and also expressed his satisfaction that WPT had joined with bwin for the tournament. "We are thrilled to launch our first ever brick and mortar WPT tournament offering in Italy," he said this week. "Bwin is a strong partner with the right market position in the region. We look forward to working with them to bring this event and the WPT brand to poker players in Italy and Europe.
Scheduled to be held at the stunning Casino di Venezio in May, the WPT Main Event will consist of several days of top action poker as professionals from all over the globe take part in what has become known as one of the hottest events on the poker industry's calendar.

The event will be broadcast by bwin on its internet based television channel.
