WSOP Player to Donate Winnings to Charity
|
August 9 - Poker player, David Einhorn, not only made it through to the last 20
players of the 2006 World Series of Poker, but says he will donate his $650 000
in winnings to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
The foundation deals with research into Parkinson's disease, the disease that
unfortunately ended the career of Back to the Future and Spin City actor, Michael J. Fox.
After play ended at the WSOP Main Event on Monday this week, Einhorn was sitting third in terms of chip
count and looked as though he was a shoe-in to make the final table and compete
for the staggering $12 million first prize.
Unfortunately, the poker gods were not smiling on Einhorn as he was knocked out
of the 2006 WSOP yesterday (Tuesday, August 8th) to finish in 18th place
overall.
However, he
still received a hefty check for $650 000.
A hedge fund manager by day, Einhorn is on the board of The Michael J. Fox
Foundation, an organization he feels very strongly about because his
grandfather suffered from Parkinson's disease.
