October 29 - The
online poker room, Pitbull Poker, which suddenly
closed its doors to players last month, continues to remain silent and will not
reply to any questions or demands by players and affiliates who have their funds
wrapped up in the site.
While players are directed to an email support address if they want to cash
out the balance, no contact has actually been made by the support team at this
Costa Rican based site.
No players have received their funds back to date.
Affiliates who worked with Pitbull Poker in the past have also been affected
by the scandal and many are trying everything in their power to retrieve some of
their lost funds.
One leading affiliate, JC Hawk, told of his efforts to get money due to him
by the owners of Pitbull Poker.
"There were lots of red flats," he recalled about the weeks leading up to the
sudden closure of the site. "When I told them my lawyers and I were coming down
to Costa Rica in late September, they stopped talking to me."
Hawk made personal cash investments into the site, and is also demanding over
$100,000 that he says is due to his affiliate poker site NLPT.tv.
Hawk praised the Costa Rican government for doing all it could to prosecute
the owners of the site.
"The government has been great to work with so far," he said. "They don't
want to see people from other countries scammed, as it hurts their trade market
worldwide an scares investors away."
"The US Embassy and the Costa Rican government are working hard to prosecute
this and get any recovery they can."
The message on the Pitbull Poker site reads: "It is with great sadness that
we have closed Pitbull Poker. To cashout your balance, please email
support@pitbullpoker.com."
