November 25 - Just when we thought the stakes couldn't get any higher on the
online poker circuit, along comes poker pro Patrik Antonius to beat his
previous record set only four days ago.
Last week it was reported that Antonius had made online poker history by
battling it out against mysterious high stakes poker player, Isildur1 and
bagging a single pot worth $878,958.
On Saturday night, however, Antonius proved why he is such a legendary player
after a record breaking pot built up in a game of pot limit Omaha against
Isildur1 once more.
Antonius had been playing on one of three tables and landed up meeting
Isildur1 once more at the final table. By this time, the cool Finn was up $1.2
million and, with incredible confidence, eyed Isildur's chips once more.
An exciting game pursued, which literally brought other action at Full Tilt
poker to a standstill as players turned their attention to what they knew would
be a battle to remember.
At one point of the game, Isildur1 upped the antes to $3,000, to which
Antonius replied with $9000.
Another highlight was when Isildur raised the action to $435,000 of real,
hard cash, and received a positive reply from Antonius who continued with the
game.
Within a short while, Isildur1 knew his cards weren't good enough to beat
Antonius and the latter swooped up $1.3 million in one single game.
The mystery surrounding the true identity of Isildur1 is far from being
solved, and the player continues to generate much speculation and curiosity.
The action in high stakes online poker has never been this high and poker
rooms are seeing a flurry of activity in the wake of the battles being fought
out among giant professionals across virtual poker tables around the globe.
