Barry Greenstein Wins The 2006 L.A. Poker Classic
|
The latest World Poker Tour event, the 2006 L.A. Poker Classic, was won by cash-game poker legend Barry Greenstein. Greenstein beat poker pro and author Blair Rodman to take the first prize of $100,000 plus a $25,000 seat at the WPT Championship. The $100,000 will of course be donated to charity. Barry Greenstein, known as the "Robin Hood of poker", gives away all his tournament poker winnings to childrens' charity.
Greenstein entered the final day with the chip lead and he played relentless, flawless big stack poker to eliminate the opposition. He also ran into some great cards and nice spots. His pocket 9s went up against Jesse Jones QJ in one memorable hand. With Jones all-in the flop came 9-T-2, giving Jones an open-ended straight draw and Greenstein a set of 9s. The turn brought the K giving Jones his straight. But the river brought a 9! Greenstein had made quad nines to eliminate Jones...
So it went all day long as the man many regard as the best cash game player in the world, although both Chip Reese and Phil Ivey have their supporters as well, had won another major poker tournament.
