Basic Online Poker Betting Structures

Online Poker Betting Structures is a term that refers to those aspects of a game involved in setting the monetary limits of any gamble. High-limit games are those dealing with high volumes/values of cash or money and low-limit games are the converse.  The following reference the betting amounts:

1.    Structured Limit

Structured limits are set amounts that can be bet, and such games are called by their set bet amounts : ie: $1, $2 or $10, $20 games.  In the game 'Hold 'Em', the amount that can be bet pre-flop or on the flop is the 1st number.  When playing a a '$5/ $10'  game, players can bet $5 at a time, and in the game 'turn and river', the bet amount doubles - here a player will bet $10 a go after the turn card is dealt.  Players may also play a 3-bet amount game : $5/ $10/ $20. This plays identically, excepting on the river. On that round of betting, players can bet on either of the 2 final amounts ie: on the $10 or $20 on the river.  A limit of 4 bets / player / betting round is imposed. ie: the player can bet and then get re-raised 3x only.

2.    Spread Limit

Spread limits are set where players can bet within a predetermined range of amounts. ie: a $1-$5 game allows players to bet between $1 and $5 only during any betting round.
Should there be a spread limit of 4 amounts - ie: $1-$5-$10-$20 - players can then bet between $1 and $5 pre-flop and on the flop. On the turn, the bet will go up to the 3rd spread - between $1 and $10, and on the river it will move to the last spread of between $1 and $20.  Should there be a spread of 3 amounts - ie: $1-$5-$10, players could bet between $1 and $5 during any betting round.  On the river however they could bet between $1 and $10.  This game could be likened to a $1-$5-$5-$10 game.

3.    Pot Limit

The Pot limit allows a player to bet, on any betting round, any amount, between the cost of the big blind and the size of the pot.

4.    No Limit

A No limit allows a player to bet, on any betting round, any amount, between the cost of the big blind and the amount of money he has at the table.
