Best Damn Poker Show Begins this Week
|
January 14 - The attraction of reality TV showed that it crossed all borders last year after the success of the Best Damn Poker Show, where poker legends Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke went in search of raw talent to turn into a top performing poker professional by the end of the season.
This week saw the beginning of the second season of the Best Damn Poker Show, which will air on Monday nights on Fox Sports Net at 9 pm. The seven episode series will see 24 poker hopefuls go through nail biting elimination rounds until only one is crowned the champion.
The Best Damn Poker Show is also a friendly conflict between Helmuth and Duke, who compete to see who can best teach the game of Texas Hold 'em to the 24 players.
This season, like the one in 2007, had registered online players at Ultimate Bet submit a video clip of themselves explaining why they deserved to be on the show. Poker fans can view some of the clips online, such as through You Tube.
During the World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas in 2008, a live audition process took place where 24 of the best were picked from thousands of hopefuls. They will now appear in the new season of the Best Damn Poker Show which kicked off this week.
Last year's winner, Tracy Scala, was recently signed up by Ultimate Bet to join its Star Players Team - a great honor for someone who was simply an anonymous poker fan before the show began.
