Betfair Poker Software Glitch Exploited
|
February 4 - Last week the online poker community was buzzing with news that a
'glitch' at leading online poker room, Betfair Poker, had been exploited by wily
and clearly none-to-moral online poker players to the tune of hundreds of
thousands of dollars.
A multitude of online poker forums revealed how a glitch in Betfair Poker's
sit-and-go games allowed every player in the game to win large sums of money,
spurring many players to enter high-stakes $1,000 Six-Pack sit-and-gos to
exploit the bug even more.
As in the real world, in the virtual world of online gambling there is no such
thing as a free lunch, and as the folks at Betfair Poker discovered the glitch -
as they were bound to do - they froze the accounts of all the players involved
in the money-making scheme.
However, while most of the players did not have time to get their money out,
some players did and have subsequently been emailed by Betfair Poker asking
them to 'please return the money'.
It will be interesting to learn how many players will comply with the polite
request and return their ill-gotten gains to Betfair Poker, and how many will laugh at the
e-mail, sign up with one of a thousand other online poker rooms, and soon forget
how they took advantage of a silly glitch.
