July 20 - The poker industry is set for a night of glitz and glamour in September when the poker playing public will get a chance to select the game's top players.
The British Poker Awards is set to take place on the 13th September in London and will include a wide number of category titles which will be up for grabs.
The event is set to take place at the Fox Poker Club in Shaftesbury Avenue, London. The poker club will just have opened the month before and will feature seating for 200 players, a poker library, smoker's deck and bar.
The venue is located in the heart of the famous West End, which seems fitting for such an exciting event.
PKR Poker is co sponsoring this event, in advance of the World Series of Poker Europe. It will bestow an honor onto some of the game's most talented players.
Some of the categories up for grabs are: Best Overall Poker Player, Best Cash Player, Best Tournament Player, Best Online Player and Best UK Card Room.
Winners for the categories will be selected by the public and voting will open from the first of August via TheBritishPokerAwards.com. Professional poker players will also be allowed to vote for their peers.
Organizers for the event said: "We think the idea of a British Poker Awards - poker's very own Oscars - is long overdue. This will be a prestigious annual event and gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to the outstanding achievers in our game."
September seems to be the month for poker events in London, and the British Poker Awards is just one of the many poker themed events that are planned for the city.
Tickets to the event will be made available soon.
