July 25 - Users of Android enabled mobile devices will be pleased to learn
that Bwin.com has rolled out real money games. The group partnered with Ongame
Network Limited, its subsidiary to bring this latest development in smartphone
technology to its players.
The interface of the new offering is based on the same platform that was
introduced to iPhone users in January and is free to access.
The Mobile Product Manager for Bwin.Party, Berthold Kao said: "Android was
always the next step for us after launching the world’s first real-money poker
app for iPhone six months ago."
"The real-money iPhone app that we developed with Ongame has been a
tremendous success and we also believe that the Android app has significant
potential," he said. "Building a mobile app is not just about format and
technology as delivering a mobile app that appeals to the mass market requires
you to reinvent the whole poker experience."
Mobile is the Future of Gambling
The number of smartphone users in Europe has increased
incredibly in the past year, and smartphones especially have grown from a 4%
market share to 36% one year later.
Smartphone usage will grow by 37% each year until at least 2015,
noted Ongame.
"Mobile is a no longer a 'nice-to-have' feature, it is what the
digital consumer expects,” said David Pittel, said the group's Managing
Director.
"Poker players are an ideal target audience for a mobile app as they are
tech-savvy and keen to enjoy games using multiple platforms. The question now is
not whether or not they own a smartphone. The question is whether they prefer
iOS or Android. We are seeing a huge interest from all the major operators
within our
online poker networks."
