Canadian Wins PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Tournament

January 13 - Poorya Nazari, a 22 year old biochemistry graduate from Richmond Hills, Canada, is still pinching himself in disbelief, after he walked away with an incredible $3 million in prize money.
Call him a poker slumdog millionaire, as Nazari beat 1059 other contestants in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure poker tournament, after he won his seat (like 746 other contestants) by playing online. Nazari himself found his way to the tournament after a $33 rebuy turbo tournament and the rest, as they say, is history.
In the final hand against seven other players, Nazari earned his victory with a pair of tens, essentially winning what many believe to be one of the greatest poker tournaments around.
When interviewed right after his win at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament, Nazari said: "It hasn't sunk in yet, it hasn't hit me yet. It definitely feels unbelievable, it feels surreal. I can't believe what's happening."
Poorya Nazari started playing poker as a hobby in tenth grade and is relatively new to the world of online poker playing. He has, however, been using poker winnings as his main source of income for several years now.
When asked to elaborate on his playing strategy, Nazari said: "I'm very patient. I'm trying my best not to think about the money, because it would start toying with the way I would play."
The win will take Nazari to Europe - a place he has never visited before - to take part in the European Poker Tour Grand Final at the end of April.
