Cereus Network Officially Launches
|
November 28 - After nearly a year in the pipelines, Tokwiro Enterprises, owners of the Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker online sites, has announced the official launch of a new poker network, Cereus.
The new Cereus poker network platform will incorporate the player pools of both poker sites but Tokwiro Enterprises has ensured players that each site will maintain its unique 'skin'.
It is hoped that the new platform will erase a year where both poker sites were rocked with cheating scandals and saw them both fined by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) after these scandals were revealed.
Astute poker players discovered that a faulty software program on Absolute Poker's site allowed insiders to view their holecards, thus allowing these cheaters to take advantage of the knowledge and win millions off unknowing players.
The site was fined $500,000 and was ordered to repay the money to players.
A similar scandal was discovered at Ultimate Bet, where players lost over $15 million to cheats. Again, the KGC stepped in and ordered the site to pay $1.5 million as a fine.
Speaking about the launch of the Cereus Poker Network, Absolute Poker said in a statement: "The combination of a new technology platform and a new 24/7 security center brings players a water tight gaming experience. The number one priority for the development of the Cereus poker network was to deliver state of the art security. Cereus boasts the new Security Center application that immediately detects abnormal winning statistics in real time. It is a major security achievement and gives Absolute Poker poker room additional layers of security, allowing us to ensure fair play for everyone at the tables."
No word as to whether Russ Hamilton will be asked to endorse the new Cereus Network, but hey why wouldn't everyone believe these sites at their word when they say security is water-tight?
