A new book written by an old gambling cheat, Richard Marcus, discusses the rather salacious topic of cheating at poker, both online and in card rooms. The book entitled "Dirty Poker" makes the rather hysterical claim that if you aren't cheating at online poker you're being cheated.
It also makes the claim that online poker will be a thing of the past ten years from now because the only players left online will be poker bots, poker hackers, and guys colluding.
If you know someone who is paranoid in general, and suspicious of online poker in particular then "Dirty Poker" will make the idea gift! The book suggests that online poker is positively littered with cheats who can see hole cards, who are working in league, and who might not even be human beings.
The myth of super-intelligent AI poker bots sitting across from you at your online poker room is just that - a myth. Furthermore, the ability of hackers to breach security systems in order to see other players' cards has never been proven at any top online poker room.
We would agree that a lot of collusion takes place in all forms of poker, both online and in Vegas card rooms. You need to be very careful of this as an online poker player, but it's part of the game. It also does not happen as often as people might think, and the advantages that it provides are not always that pronounced.
Nevertheless, Marcus' book "Dirty Poker" will find readers because so many people love to try and find a shortcut when it comes to winning at poker, even if that means cheating.
