July 26 - In the newly reformed French gambling market, operators are pushing their way in, in a bid to offer their poker products to French poker fans.
Chilipoker announced that it has been granted an operating license by the French regulatory body, ARJEL, and therefore becomes the first group to launch on the new French iPoker network.
The Chief Executive of Playtech, Mor Weizer, spoke of his delight on the launch of the French iPoker network and said: "I am confident that it will develop to become of the leading liquid networks in France."
"As the market expands in its regulated form, France has the potential to become a very substantial local market," he said.
The Chief Executive of Chiligaming, Alex Dreyfus, spoke about Chilipoker's addition to the French network.
"Chilipoker is very proud to have been the first iPoker licensee in France and is working actively with Playtech to make iPoker France have the biggest liquidity," he said. "Because of our poker expertise and the knowledge of the French market, Chilipoker will launch a B2B poker offering very soon."
ARJEL, the gambling regulation, has given out eleven licenses so far to online poker sites.
These include top names such as Poker Stars, Party Poker, Everest, Bwin and, of course, Chilipoker.
Operators face a 2% tax on all cash game pots and tournament buy ins.
