Chris Fergusons Full Tilt Poker Experiment
|
May 2 - Undoubtedly one of the finest professional poker players in the world, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, has undertaken a mammoth poker 'experiment' in the top online poker room that he endorses, Full Tilt Poker.
The 'experiment' which began almost a year ago, is aimed at proving to both new
and experienced poker players that with no money or bankroll to speak of, that
anyone can turn $0 into $10 000 playing in online poker games by using their poker skills and following some simple bankroll management tips.
With no money in his coffers, Chris had no choice but to play in Full Tilt Poker Freerolls to win enough to be able to afford to play in low stakes poker games and tournaments.
Needless to say, even Chris found this a daunting task, often winning a few dollars and then losing it all a few games later.
Eventually though Chris won enough to move up to low stakes games. He talks
about how regular Full Tilt Poker players, just like you and me, are often surprised to see him playing at their low stakes tables, many of whom tell him stories of how they too managed to turn a few dollars into a few hundred or even a few thousand, during their online poker experiences.
However, Chris goes on to say how the bulk of these players usually lose it all,
mostly because they all make one cardinal mistake which is to use their winnings
to play in games beyond their bankrolls. In other words, just a few bad hands in
a higher stake game can reduce your bankroll to zero!
Chris explains that there is a way to avoid this common pitfall which is to
follow a few simple tips that he has developed over the years to ensure
effective bankroll management:
1. Never buy into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of your
total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits where you can buy
into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less).
2. Never buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of your total
bankroll but do buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1.
3. Leave a game when the blinds reach you in a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game
where the money on the table represents more than 10 percent of your total
bankroll.
Ferguson maintains that if more players followed the above simple tips, far
fewer would lose their bankrolls and have to start from scratch. He explains
that for many online poker players, their egos prevent them from playing in
lower stakes games or games they can afford.
As such many try to recoup their losses at higher stakes games and end up
with a zero bankroll balance. Visit

Ferguson's exciting online poker experiment.
