ClubWPT Still Going Strong
|
January 6 - In recent months, we have been hearing of too many subscription based online poker rooms falling by the wayside. These sites were essentially created to offer US players a way to enjoy online poker legally within the framework of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, requesting that players play a monthly base fee (usually around $20) and allowing them to earn points to enter tournaments and win real money.
Nevertheless, while the idea may be a good one, many of these subscription poker rooms have announced their closure in the past few months, including Duplicate Poker, Fleet Street Games and - most recently - Zozos Poker.
However, one subscription based poker room that seems to be doing extremely well is the World Poker Tour owned site, ClubWPT. This week, the poker room announced that it has just awarded its $2 millionth in prize money and was continuing with lucrative tournaments and promotions into the new year.
Each and every month, ClubWPT offers tournament prizes valued at $100,000 through its poker and blackjack brands.
The reason for ClubWPT's success may be because of the exposure that the site receives through marketing efforts by the publicly trading World Poker Tour. In addition, the site recently televises its tournaments - all in all ten exciting six handed tournaments were shown on Fox Sports Net, with contestants winning their way to the tournament through ClubWPT poker room.
ClubWPT also allows players to stand in line to enter satellites to top tournaments such as the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker.
With live chat support, access to top online poker publications and excellent software, it seems that members of the ClubWPT enjoy more than what is generally found at standard subscription poker rooms - perhaps explaining this site's ability to survive in an increasingly difficult industry.
