October 6 - One lucky student could walk away with a $10,000 tuition prize in
Absolute Poker's College Challenge that kicked off on October 4th.
The site is running qualifiers that will eventually feed the Main Event on
November 30th, 2009, which will finally result in the Player of the Year live
table in Los Angeles.
"This tournament is a fun and easy way for college students to compete for an
alternative way to ay for tuition and we believe that this program is one of the
best ways to create real added value for college students," said Absolute Poker
Pro, Matt "Plattsburgh" Vengrin.
Players hoping to get a chance to win this great tuition prize can do so as
follows:
- Freerolls and buy ins ($0.25 - $5) take place on a daily basis at
Absolute Poker.
- The top nine players from these daily events qualify for a freeroll that
takes place the following day.
- The top 15 players from this freeroll enter the Weekly Main Event
Qualifier that runs each Sunday at Absolute Poker.
- The first Weekly Main Event Qualifier will run on October 11th, with the
final one running on November 29th. All Weekly Qualifiers come with a prize
pool of $200.
- The top nine players from each Weekly Qualifier will compete in the Main
Event that will take place on November 30th.
- The top six players will travel to Los Angeles to play for the Player of
the Year title and win $10K in tuition.
The second prize in the final event is $5K, and the other four players will
win prizes ranging from $3K to $2K. Travel expenses are also included.
