Dates Changed For $50,000 Buy-In HORSE Poker Tournament
|
One of the highlights of the 2006 World Series Of Poker will be the HORSE event, a mixed-game poker tournament that features the largest ever buy-in with a seat costing the massive sum of $50,000! The tournament has now been moved to July 12-14 to accommodate television coverage.
Originally scheduled to begin on July 25 the HORSE tournament has been pushed to an earlier date so that there can be extensive televised coverage.
The top poker players in the world have long been calling for an event of this nature, where the winner will need to be equally proficient at a variey of poker games and not simply no-limit hold'em.
Success at the mixed-game level is a crowning achievement for some pros and players like Barry Greenstein and Chip Reese have earned the respect of their peers for playing all poker games well. It is hoped that the HORSE event will eventually surpass the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Tournament (known as the Main Event) as the ultimate prize at the World Series.
The tournament will undoubtedly feature fewer amateurs and online qualifiers simply because of the enormous sum of money required to pay the entry fee, but for those willing to pony up fifty grand there is the opportunity to earn the ultimate bragging rights, namely the honor of being the HORSE champion.
