Dave Devilfish Ulliott - Poker Legend
|
Devilfish is arguably the most famous poker player in Europe, and certainly has the coolest nickname on either side of the Atlantic, but Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott remains sadly under-appreciated in the United States.
If there was a world championship for arrogance in poker then there is little debate that the Devilfish would represent England, and possibly all of Europe. His ego could expand to fill the continent if need be. Australia could counter with Tony G, who brings a new level of uncouth to a nation not exactly known for their general sophistication or elan, and of course the USA could be represented by Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, assuming he isn't in jail at the time. If he isn't available Phil Hellmuth Jr. would have to do. But back to the Devilfish, also a spokesman for Ultimate Bet like our friend Phil, but a far better cash game and pot-limit poker player than Phil.
Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott burst onto the international poker scene when he won a poker tournament back in 1997, beating Men "The Master". He earned his nickname at that event, and also became well known for his garish rings, greased-back hair, and tinted shades. Devilfish looks like the kind of guy you might see doing Elvis impressions on the boardwalk in Blackpool, or challenging you to an unwinnable game of three-card monte. But high-stakes poker has made him a wealthy man, plus he has a nice little side business in jewelry (we assume he designs it as opposed to fencing it).
Devilfish is a superb poker player, and he made the final table of the first World Series Of Poker event this year, along with Allen Cunningham and Scott Fischman. He has a bracelet for winning a world series of poker event, and was also a winner on the World Poker Tour. He has a fearsome table presence, and is well-respected by all poker pros around the globe.
