Doyle Brunson Woos The European Poker Market
|
Author: Marc
August 27 - Online poker affiliates should see the signs by now that the future of the industry lies in Europe, and what clearer indication could you hope to find than Doyle Brunson agreeing to be the keynote speaker at this year's CAP Euro conference, right around the time that DoylesRoom.com relaunches on the 1st of September.
The site will focus on the UK and the rest of Europe, hence the press release announcing the launch on the 1st of September and not the other way around - it's the little things that show attention to detail.
I've chatted with Doyle and listened to him talk before, and he's a imposing presence with a cowboy's approach to public speaking - short and to the point. Brunson was pretty vocal about DoylesRoom's commitment to the US market but was unable to keep his word on that matter.
I wonder if he wonders how in the hell Full Tilt continued and continues to sail along catering to the US online poker market, sponsoring numerous TV shows, airing commercials, and generally acting as though the anti-gambling legislation never happened. Meanwhile he has to gladhand a bunch of tech geeks at CAP and offer a Greek translation on his website (one hopes).
The best aspect of DoylesRoom.com used to be their bounty tournaments where you could play against celebs like Texas Dolly himself and Pamela Anderson, most memorably. If they continue to offer fun events like that, and I'm sure they will, then it will have cross over appeal in Europe and they should do fine.
