February 21 - Leading online poker room,
DoylesRoom.com has officially stopped
accepting Real Money American online poker players, the latest casualty in
the war on online gambling in the US, sparked by the passing of the Unlawful
Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) by Congress last year.
The name gracing the online poker room belongs to American poker legend Doyle
Brunson, one of world's best known and most respected poker players.
DoylesRoom.com has always
drawn masses of online poker players from the United States as well as from all over
the world.
DoylesRoom.com is the biggest online poker room currently operating under the
Doyle Brunson Poker Network (DBPN), which announced that US-based online poker players
will no longer be able to deposit playing funds into the poker room and
play in Real Money poker games.
From March 1st 2007, all US players will still be able to withdraw funds from
their
DoylesRoom.com accounts, but will not be able to
deposit further funds or play any Real Money games on
the online poker room.
A DoylesRoom.com spokesperson said via email, 'While this is not the course of
action we would like to have taken, it is necessary in order to
facilitate the security of player funds by withdrawing in an orderly and timely
manner from the US market.'
DoylesRoom.com is still available to players in other countries around world
(including Canada) in terms of deposits and Real Money play.
