November 16 - Despite the fact that he swore never to tie himself down to a
sponsorship deal, Tom "durrr" Dwan has made a u-turn on his decision and signed
up with top online poker room, Full Tilt Poker.
The player is possibly the highest profile player online, forever making
headlines - good or bad. His totally fearless attitude on the felt, combined
with is aggressive playing style, has earned him quite a reputation in the
industry, and his games attract the largest crowds.
Tom Dwan joins other top players in the industry on Full Tilt's professional
team, including Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Patrik Antonius and Erick Seidel.
"Team Full Tilt doesn't take adding a team member lightly," said Howard
Lederer. But, Tom Dwan has proven, through skill and dynamic play that he will
be force to be reckoned with for many years to come. We are proud to come Tom as
one of our own."
Over the past year, it has been rumoured that Dwan was approached several
times by Full Tilt Poker to sign on as an ambassador.
The change of heart may have come due to the fact that after posting online
earnings of $5 million last year, Dwan has been down as much as $4 million in
2009 and was down $1.8 million when he signed on. As a result, supplemental
income through a stint with Full Tilt Poker may be just what this 23 year old
poker genius needs to replenish his coffers.
In recent days, Dwan has been pulling in the crowds at Full Tilt Poker
through his series of high profile, high stakes games with a mysterious new
Swede in town, playing under the handle of isildur1.
Dwan and Isildur1 have been going all out in their heads up matches at Full
Tilt, with Dwan dropping over $1.2 million to his opponent on the first night
and losing another $600K on the second.
Despite these losses, Dwan seems determined to continue with his battle
against Isildur1, in a series reminiscent of the online battles that he recently
fought against poker Adonis, Patrik Antonius.
