Freddy Deeb Wins H.O.R.S.E Championship at WSOP
|
June 29 - While he may be known in poker circles for his loud shirts and
memorable name, professional poker player Freddy Deeb is no slouch when
it comes to playing poker as he proved by winning the $50k World Series of Poker
(WSOP) H.O.R.S.E. World Championship event.
Not only did Freddy earn the kudos of winning one of the largest events of the
2007 WSOP, but he also gets to take home a coveted WSOP bracelet as well as
hefty check for $2,276,832, not to mention the great memory of winning such a
prestigious event in Las Vegas.
However, Freddy's victory was no walk over as he found himself 'against the
ropes' one more than one occasion during the final day of play, that is until
lady luck decided to sit herself down by his side and turn the exciting live
poker action to his advantage.
In his final heads-up battle with Bruno Fitoussi, Freddy managed to hold off the
ambitious Frenchman to win the tournament. In the final hand of the game,
Freddy's pair of fives for the high and 8-7-5-4-A for the low proved good enough
to clinch the victory.
Kassem 'Freddy' Deeb was born in Beirut, Lebanon but emigrated to the United
States when he was 19. As he was on a student visa, Freddy was unable to find
employment so he turned to gambling to support himself and discovered his
natural talent for playing poker.
