Full Tilt Bots Allegedly Running Rampant
|
Author: Marc
October 7 - Full Tilt Poker has led a charmed legal existence for years, at least according to this cynical onlooker, but their good fortune to avoid bad beats might be nearing an end. Full Tilt is transparently owned in part by US citizens like Lederer and Matusow, who live and work in the USA, and yet they aren't arrested even though the online poker room is illegal in that country. Since this online poker room can apparently get away with anything it is no surprise that a recent lawsuit suggests that it is infested with poker bots.
Full Tilt confiscated $80,000 from two player accounts, both of them run by the same lady - one Lary Kennedy. Her name is pokergirl_z if you're looking to avoid meeting her online. They say she was using bots. She says that she wasn't but that Full Tilt has its own bots, designed by math geniuses Ferguson and Bloch, who also own pieces of the company and are not in jail.
She says that Full Tilt uses the bots to fill up empty seats and also claims that Full Tilt sponsored pros use company revenues to stake them at tables, which would almost certainly make Full Tilt the sort of online gambling enterprise that the DOJ would want to get excited about stopping, if the allegations were true.
Kennedy may be lying, but the truth seems clear that someone is using bots at Full Tilt and that online poker players are once again getting shafted.
There is some old joke about a gambler playing at a game where he knows the fix is in, but still playing anyway. When asked why he replies: "Because it's the only game in town." Online poker is so dodgy right now it fits neatly into this joke. And yet millions of players willingly ante up online every day, because the fun of playing poker for money on your own computer outweighs the cons (or should that be pros?) who run the game.
