Full Tilt Online Poker Series Guarantees $4 Million
|
Author: Marc Weinberg
May 16 - Full Tilt's online poker series featuring ten gauarnteed poker tournaments in ten days may look like a direct challenge to the online poker series at Poker Stars, but it's still a great opportunity for series tournament players to thrive.
Full Tilt Poker guarantees $4 million in total prize money spread over the ten tournaments, with the highlight the Main Event on Sunday, May 20 at 6 PM EST.
The buy in is a reasonable $500 + $35 and the guaranteed prize pool is a massive $1.5 million. Will they get 3000 entries? The answer looks set to be a resounding yes.
Event #3, which was hosted by former World Series Of Poker main event winner Huck Seed (no relation to or inspiration for Huck Cheever, I hope), drew a field of 2995 at $300 per seat. The guarantee for that event was only $750,000 so there was no overlay there, and one has to assume that the main event will attract a larger field size.
Each event is hosted by one of the Full Tilt pros, and over the coming days Layne Flack, David Singer, and Alan Boston (famous for being one of the best college basketball handicappers in the world and also a mean stud poker player) will host tournaments.
The main event will be hosted by Gus Hansen, who has had a spectacular 2007 in terms of tournament poker results.
I am going to play in tonight's event - the $200 + $16 six-handed NL tournament hosted by the 2006 WSOP phenom Jeff Madsen. I'll let you know if I win :)
